Aug 20. Gazprom intends to assign shares in subsidiary utilities to a single business entity Gazoenergeticheskaya Kompaniya (GEK). A source familiar with the gas concern's plans said that primarily shares in Mosenergo and TGK-1 are at issue. "The work has already begun" – the source said and added that Gazprom's BoD had already adopted some decisions. Shares in OGK-2 and OGK-6 could also be assigned to GEK. Assignment of the shares to GEK will enable the company, in particular, to raise loans using shares as collateral. In addition, a management team will be formed to operate utilities assets, the source said. Gazoenergeticheskaya Kompaniya is one of Gazprom's main utilities subsidiaries. A 10.5% stake in UES was listed on the company's balance sheet, which was transformed into stakes in OGK-2, OGK-6, TGK-11, TGK-12 and TGK-13 after UES was wound up. Gazprom needed TGK shares for an abortive transaction to merge utilities and coal assets with SUEK. The gas concern plans to sell them. GEK was supposed to participate in the transaction on behalf of Gazprom.
