Aug 12. Sergey Batekhin who had acted as Norilsk Nickel CEO for less than a month, has been demoted. According to the company's press release, on Monday the order was signed to appoint ex-CEO Sergey Batekhin the First Deputy CEO – Executive Director and Deputy Chairman. In this capacity he will be in charge of strategic corporate governance issues, day-to-day operations of the company's production facilities and supervise new mining projects, sales, procurement and fuel and energy complex. Batekhin views as key tasks facing NorNickel the upgrade of existing production facilities, development of an in-house ore base, optimization of technological processes and improvement of environmental issues in regions where the company conducts operations.
