Aug 11. Holding Company Interros does not consider RusAl the only partner to roll out NorNickel, the metal maker's chairman Vladimir Potanin told journalists. "Interros has long-term plans concerning NorNickel and targets making the company an industry leader" – he said. "I am confident that Interros will have partners to help implement these plans". According to Potanin, it makes no difference who this partner is: MC Rusal or another company. However, since RusAl is currently a shareholder, Interros is in talks with the latter. "Companies which target leadership should go get involved in M&As" – replied Potanin when asked about industry consolidation. According to him, the company is eyeing diversification toward other products and strengthening its foothold in the copper segment. "Since NorNickel should remain Russian, we are prepared for a share swap with Russian companies" – he said. "Interros is prepared to reduce its holding in order to strengthen the company, while we are destined to cash settlements with foreign players".
