Aug 11. NorNickel's BoD adopted a decision at its Friday meeting to appoint Vladimir Strzhalkovsky as the company's CEO, the metal maker's chairman Vladimir Potanin told journalists. Vladimir Strzhalkovsky was supposed to start work on August 9. According to him, on Monday he will sign off on an order to appoint ex-NorNickel CEO Sergey Batekhin as First Deputy CEO-Executive Director. According to Norilsk Nickel, Alexander Bulygin was the only one to attend the meeting out of RusAl's spokespersons who voted against. Oleg Deripaska and Mikhail Prokhorov submitted their opinions in writing. Vladimir Strzhalkovsky was offered by Vladimir Potanin as a candidate for the position. His appointment was supported by Interros and two independent directors. Independent director Guy de Sellier abstained from the voting, since he failed to meet the appointee. "Vladimir Strzhalkovsky's appointment is a step toward implementing the company's strategy aimed at retaining its leadership status in the industry" – said Potanin.
